Introducing your advisor

Developing a strong relationship with your advisor is one of the most important aspects of working together. my goal with this article is to give you a better understanding of who I am and why I’m doing this work. I hope to learn the same about you when we work together.

Who is Ryan Kaysen?

I grew up in a town called Media which is south of Philadelphia. I have an amazing and beautiful wife who happens to be an estate planning attorney whom I work closely with. she is the reason I started this business. I believe our strong chemistry will help us help others in the best way possible. We have the coolest dog Harley and a baby girl on the way. I play golf, love fishing, and practice Thai boxing. I also help my parents run their business and hope to help them find a comfortable retirement at some point down the road.

Why are you an advisor?

I love helping people. I have an extensive background in investments and see asset management and estate planning as the best way to help people. There is also a major problem in the financial advisory business that I learned early in my career. Lots of these bigger firms are not helping people the way that they should. I see high fees and high volumes in transactional costs that cut into returns without the client knowing. Many advisors just throw clients into mutual funds or investments where someone else is managing the assets so they're just paying another level of advisor to do the original advisors job. I don't see that as right. An advisors real value comes from helping the client control their own behavior while investing. I want to work closely with clients to make sure their mindset is focused on the strategy rather than the markets. This is not an easy task but it has proven to create success. I want to shoulder that stress for my clients so they can focus on their goals.

What makes you qualified to manage my assets and/or estate?

I’ll be transparent about this. If I know there's another advisor who can help you better then I will send you to them. As I mentioned though, I am very familiar with what a lot of advisors do and from a fee structure alone I know I can serve you well. My firm does not focus on revenue but rather client behavior. If you are happy with the service we provide I trust that you and your family will stick around.

I have worked for two large firms serving financial advisors as clients and got to know the difference between a good advisor and a bad advisor. I was able to take the best characteristics from the best advisors and incorporate that into my client-centric business.

I have built financial plans for clients and know it only takes a few moments to help change the lives of clients for the better. I am motivated to create those moments for each of my clients so I can hear how I’ve changed their lives.

What are your goals?

As of now, my goal is to build a book of about 50 client households. I want to stay a small shop because I want to be sure I have the bandwidth to care for all my clients. If I get too large, I may miss something and hurt the financial wellbeing of my clients and I could not live with that. I also think that size will provide the work-life balance I would like to focus on my family as well.

On the personal side, my family wants to move to Charlotte. The world is a large place and we want to see it. Charlotte will be the next chapter in our book.

What does your typical client look like?

I have a range of expertise in the financial industry but I want to focus mostly on Estate Planning for my clients. I believe the estate plan should be the basis for most financial plans and provides the greatest peace of mind. This appeals to individuals and families who have accumulated a level of wealth that needs protection from taxation and the probate process. My clients like to have control over the wealth they have built and to be sure it will not be squandered when they are gone. Making an impact, even after you’re gone, should be a goal for everyone but especially for the clients I serve.

From an investment management perspective, my typical client understands the complexity of the markets and is willing to delegate the responsibility. In most cases my clients have owned small businesses and want a strategy set in stone so when a rainy day comes, they are prepared. We specialize in strategy and commitment to a plan.

What is your business model?

The IF business model is based on strong relationships with clients. A strong bond of trust must be formed so we have the chemistry to execute the plans we create together. Integrity is in the name of my business, and I rely on that to build the trust necessary to work for my clients. I plan to right the wrongs of my industry by showing my clients full transparency in their plan and investments. I still see subtle forms of deception each day in my field that could easily be avoided if clients were taught the right questions to ask and be able to identify the red flags. Even if I don’t end up being the right fit for you, I will still teach you what to look for in an advisor so I know you are walking out the door in the right direction. My business model is to change the perception of financial advisors in the modern world.

I will be creating more posts like this so you can understand me better but if you have any questions you would like to see then let me know. Send me an email or schedule a call. I would love to help you see what I do in a new light.
